Like on all my other blogs, here I also use the nickname Chiyo, but my
name is Paulina. So far I am twenty two years old and everyone can see
what do I look like.

What you can’t see is that I read Japanese Studies at the University of
Oxford and that this is the reason I’m in Japan right now. For the second time.
The first one was over spring and summer of 2011, during my last term of first
year. I then lived in a city called Takarazuka, almost exactly between Osaka
and Kobe, with a fantastic Japanese family, and I was studying at Kwansei Gakuin
University.
I won’t lie that this second stay in Japan makes me simultaneously excited
and a bit terrified (though the excitement usually predominates). After I come
back I will enter my final (fifth) year of studying at Oxford, so I plan on
spending some part of this trip not just on travelling, but also on research
for my dissertation which is about tattoos and their social perception by the
Japanese society – don’t be surprised if more than one entry will be dedicated
to this.
A little bit more about me? Hmm, ok, but briefly because I prefer you
all to get to know me through what I write here. To use my Mum’s words, I am an
international gal: I am Polish, I live in England (an honorary Yorkshire lass),
part of my family is in Germany, I study Japanese, practice Irish dancing,
adore Indian films, am passionate about American burlesque and neo-burlesque
and I’ll eat food and listen to music from almost everywhere in the world (I
haven’t tried everything yet, but there is still time for that). Talented but
lazy, although when I am not being lazy – which I prefer to do by watching TV
shows or playing games – I love to read, I love to write even more (both
fiction and journalistic stuff), to bake all sorts of sweet goodies and, as I mentioned
before, to dance.
You can catch me in a few ways and the quickest of them will be either
leaving a comment on the blog. I
check my Formspring page less frequently, but I still do, though I reserve more
“private” means of contact, such as Skype or Facebook, for my family and
friends. I will do my best to answer all your questions as soon as I can, but
please, remember about the time difference (which is +8 hours if you’re in the
UK).
